A Community Orchard
We are delighted to see that the area planned for the Community Orchard has already been fenced. We understand that trees may be arriving in the Autumn. Where possible local Essex varieties of apple, pear and cherry will be used.
Funding has been set aside and will be released over a three year period. This will cover the cost of access paths, fencing and seating as well as the cost of the trees, planting and establishment.
Once established it is hoped to bring together local residents of all ages and abilities by setting up an Orchard Helping Hands group, which will assist with the maintenance of the orchard and the all important fruit picking.
A New Bench for the Park
Friends of Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park are now able to fund a new bench which will be made by the woodlands team from locally felled timber.
The new bench will be similar in appearance to the memorial bench recently placed in the park by employees of Rochford District Council in memory of a valued colleague.
