New paths in the park.
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BID BY FRIENDS OF CHERRY ORCHARD PARK!
We have been awarded £27,500.
We have been awarded £27,500.
Work started in January 2020 on the all-weather footpath from the car park to the bridleway, allowing people with mobility problems and families with prams or strollers better access to the park. The final layers of fine stone were laid and rolled in mid April 2020. This was a great result when we consider that February and March had so much rain!
Thanks go to our committee member Matt, for managing the successful bid, to Richard for managing the contract, to contractors Go Green for an excellent job, and to RDC for supporting and contributing to the project.

The natural meadow will be allowed to grow longer along the edge of the path and wild flowers will be encouraged. This should also encourage a natural 'bee corridor' through the park. It will also be another task for our Conservation Volunteers, who will be able to stop the meadow encroaching on to the path. All good!
Friends of Cherry Orchard Park bagged the top award of £4,000 from Tesco's community grant scheme. Bags of Help is run in partnership with environmental charity Groundwork and sees grants awarded to thousands of local community projects every year. Since launching in 2015, it's provided more than £75 million to over 25,000 local community projects. Friends of Cherry Orchard Park were awarded £4,000 and our PATHWAY ACCESS AND IMPROVEMENT project has been brought to life.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO USED THEIR TESCO TOKENS TO VOTE FOR THIS PROJECT!
