It rained steadily for most of April.  Water levels in the stream and in the lake were at an all time high. and yet the country is still in the grip of a drought.  How can that be?  It's a puzzle for geologists and environmentalists to explain.  It seems that despite there being a lot of water around now, it is running off the fields and away into the streams too quickly to make any real difference to drought conditions that have been building up over the last two years.  So,  despite the pictures below, we still have to be responsible about the way we are using water.  There's no hose pipe ban here at the moment but who can tell what the summer will bring.
