Information sign 7 - The Lake

The lake was excavated in 2002 and is fed via the ditch from the stream known as Dave's Dyke.
In the Autumn of 2022 Essex Wildlife Trust cleared the ditch to improve the flow of water into the lake, during those times of the year when it is allowed, and regraded the banks.  They planted a range of reeds and rushes to encourage wildlife and prevent the banks from further degrading.

There are photos of the work in progress on the Home Page.

Wild birds are now returning to the lake and early mornings see a variety of birds making the most of the quiet times.

Birds on the lake - January/February 2023.
